Katikati College

Located in the beautiful Western Bay of Plenty, Katikati College is a co-ed state funded and approved high school. Established in 1958, its’ current roll of 930caters for young people aged between 11 and 18 years. It has a fine academic history and offers a wide range of sporting and extracurricular activities. Katikati College has a long association with students from all over the world and regularly facilitates international sports and cultural exchanges. Currently there are 17 international students from a wide range of countries including Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, Germany, India.

ICT is an integral component in students learning at Katikati College with five computer suites and 100 laptops available for student use.

Outdoors Programme
Katikati College’s outdoor adventure programme is continually being developed and improved. Students spend approximately eight hours per week on the programme and the remainder of their time is spent in regular academic classes.
Outdoor education is an integral part of the senior curriculum in the areas of Geography, Biology, Sports Science, Recreation, Tourism and provides students with an exciting range of opportunities and activities. The outdoor education programme is essentially the study of adventure pursuits, development of inter-personal skills and personal qualities that builds confidence and skills.
We actively encourage our International students to become a member of a sports team: Rugby, Hockey, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Badminton, Golf, Tennis, Cricket,
Students can work toward a variety of qualifications, including New Zealand Qualifications Authority Unit Standards, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh Award through our Outdoor Adventure Club and our International Student Acheivement Award.

Through the course, students learn the necessary skills required for a successful career in the outdoors. They also gain important personal development skills that can be transferred to any workplace or career path. Skills such as effective leadership, self-confidence, co-operative learning, teamwork, problem solving, decision making and group analysis, along with the knowledge of fitness and nutrition gained from the course set students in good stead for any challenge they may face in future.

Academic Programme
Katikati College offers a full range of academic subjects at every level, including all national examination preparation classes at years 11, 12 and 13. Students can study academic subjects such as English or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), mathematics, graphics, art, music, computer studies, history, geography, classics, physics, chemistry and biology. Other subjects available include food technology, fabric technology, wood technology, drama and media studies, childcare and photography, metal technology.
Fees & Accomodation
Friendly New Zealand host families make the students’ stay in New Zealand an enjoyable one. Families are carefully selected and monitored regularly during students' stay. Students receive all meals, laundry and their own bedroom with a desk. The welfare of international students at Katikati College is taken very seriously.
- Annual tuition fees: NZ$ 11,500.00 per year + GST
- Home stay accommodation: NZ$200 per week
- Outdoor education fees: NZ$1,000 per yr
- Insurance: NZ$450 (11 months premium)
- Uniform (years 7-12) NZ$350 (approx)
